Garden Work Mar. 3

Today, Margaret, Tai, Cole and I worked in the garden with Ms. Betancourt and one of the middle schoolers Blake. Once again, I worked on pulling out the weeds in the garden boxes but along with Margaret and Cole. Tai worked on watering the plants. After that, me and Tai pulled out the purple flowers near the rosemary. Then, I helped out Ms. Betancourt plant the Swiss Chard in her garden box along with Blake. My group is planning on planting lemon grass and maybe lavender in our garden box.

Garden Work March 3rd

Today I worked in the garden with Tai, Joel and Cole. I worked on filling up some of the smaller planters with soil and emptying others, while Tai and Joel took the flowers off of the thai basil, weeded, and watered. Cole and I shoveled dirt into a bucket and used that dirt to fill up some half-full small pots, as well as dumping the rainwater out of those that had formed puddles. We also took some of the small pots that had plants that didn’t grow, and emptied the soil to use again. I also started an avocado plant from a pit by using toothpicks to levitate the pit halfway in water. I hope to maybe have this avocado tree starting to grow by the end of the year, since I know that avocado trees usually take a while to start. Joel and I also discussed ideas for our garden box while working in the garden. I hope to plant lavender, permitting that the temperature and atmosphere of our garden is suitable. We also discussed other herbs to plant, such as lemongrass or chamomile. Next time we work in the garden, I could work on preparing our garden bed to plant things, or maybe starting some seeds.

Garden work Feb. 25

I worked in the garden along with Tai, Margaret, and Cole on Tuesday February 25, 2020. Before working, I noticed that there were weeds in three of the garden boxes. I picked the weeds all by myself from the garden boxes and some between them. Tai is watering some of the plants while Cole and Margaret used a wheelbarrow to get soil to put on some of the garden boxes. After I picked all the weeds from the three garden boxes with Ms. Betancourt’s help, I helped Tai in raking the soil put on some of the garden boxes. I do not know what my group is putting in our garden box but they say that we should put herbs in it.
