Sofia’s garden blog- 5/18/21

Before:
After
The work that was done was watering. 2 observation i can make it that our rose plant has gotten taller and one rose had grown. 1 inference is if we continue to water and watch over it our ride will become a full rise bush and it will have tons of roses! Suggestions for my garden group is to make sure to not forget to water the rose bush.

T. Gomez 05-09-21 Garden

 Photos: Gavin and Kyle

Today we watered and pulled weeds out of our box. We noticed that our radishes were ripe for harvest, while our other plants were dying or dead. We haven't found out what was eating our plants but our radishes and green onion were still growing. We watered our plants a little more than usual thinking it will revive our other plants.

                               After :
The work that was done this gardening blog was weeding, counting, and watering. I counted how many flowers on the Chile plant there was because that determines how many chiles there going to be. 2 observations is that my marigold flower was half dead so I decided to just take it out and that our green onions were growing a ton! Since there were about 27 flowers on the Chile plant I can infer that there are going to be about 26 chiles later. Some suggestions I have for my garden group is to watch on the Chile because we don’t want it to die since it’s almost going to start growing chiles soon.

The things that were done was watering and weeding.
I did weeding in between the sunflowers you can’t see it’s hidden. 2 observations is that the Sunflowers have grown so much since the last time and so has the Okinawa sweet potato. Since none of the seeds that we’ve planted hasn’t sprouted yet I can infer that they won’t be grown for a while.
Some suggestions I have for my garden group members is to continue to weed and water to have a clean and healthy garden!

The work that was done in the gardening session was watering, cleaning and weeding. Two observations is that chile plants have grown a last since the last time I’ve been in the garden and that none of my carrot seeds have grown yet. An Inference is that since there Serona chile plant has grown so much I can infer that there are going to be some chiles soon. Some suggestions for my garden group is to water a lot especially since we just planted some new seeds.

David garden blog may 20

A lot of my squash's have rotted at the tip of them. I harvested my carrot because if I didnt it would have rotted too. The peas were ready too. I harvested the green onions because it was ready. Next week the squash will be the same but probably more rot. The rest of the peas will be fully grown by next week

Chop's Garden Work 5/20/21

Today I helped Ms. Betancourt throw away some plants and stuff into a big bin in the back of the school. Once we got down to the garden, I started watering everything, and Aaron cleaned up our boxes a little bit. David and I also weeded inside the area where the Kukui nuts used to be.

I noticed the green beans in our boxes had fewer leaves and beans because we used them to make some salad and stuff during biology, so that was cool. Our tomato also has like a flower or two, so I believe we will see some tomatoes within the next two weeks.

For the rest of my group, we should keep our garden boxes clean of weeds and help Ms. Betancourt with other stuff too.

Today the two boxes where weeded and watered.

I weeded and watered the two boxes.

Our onions where mature and well today. Our three bell peppers and serrano chili in the left box have small buds starting to appear, precursors to chilis I assume. The pansy lost most of it's leaves but now it seems to be recovering. Our sunflowers have small black bugs growing around the epicenter of their leaves and stalks.

Please check on our sunflowers for any damage with the presence of the unknown bugs. Weeding and watering as always. See you next year garden box.

Thanks for everything guys,
-Rob

Before
There wasn’t much to do in gardening. So I watered my box and took out the weeds. Our squash plant seems to be dying so I took off the dead leaves, but there is a big squash growing in there so I think it’ll be ok before school ends. I think we should focus and helping our squash survive and harvesting the peas and onions since they seems ready.

Kail garden blog

For my groups garden box my team weeded and watered. The carrots died but we have a lot of radishes, cauliflower and were growing cucumbers. Soon we will hopefully harvest them

Chop's Garden Work 5/13/21

On Thursday, Aaron and I watered our boxes and weeded in and around them. I also watered the rest of the garden as well. I put the list for Mikayla to do on the board.

My tomato plant just keeps getting bigger, I also noticed my melon got pretty big, but still no sign of an actual melon. Based on what I saw, we should see some fruit in the next couple of weeks.

We need to keep watering, and hoping it rains a little on the weekends. I really like working in the garden, and we should build a table soon.

May 13 Gardening

Today we weeded and watered once again, like usual. Our plants have grown a lot, but it seems like they're decaying a little bit. Our green onions have grown a little bit, which is relieving. Unfortunately, my partner Kail killed our carrot. Last garden session, he pulled it out. He never replanted it properly, and now we have no carrot. We might use him as compost if this happens again. Our rest of the garden box is growing decently. We just need to maintain the pace it has been growing at.

I watered and weeded. My carrot is looking dead but Im giving it a chance. I cut off all of the leaves that were brown so it would stop trying to grow on that part. One of the squash's got bigger. I think by next week that carrot will be dead. Im pretty sure it was peas that I planted, it has flowers on it. I think it will have a pea soon

May 13, 2021

Today our two boxes where weeded and watered.

I weeded and watered the two boxes and helped Ms. Betancourt move the Kukui nut trees outside of the screen box.

The evening suns and onions are doing quite good reaching over a foot in height. Found our pansy and marigold to be in dilapidated conditions, with some of the flowers falling from the marigold and the pansy being completely wilted on one side.

Please keep a good watch on the flowers as I'm concerned for their water requirements, (watered them extra today.) I also tilled some of the soil after realizing that lightly watering will only wet the top surface of our soil instead of penetrating to the roots of our plants Weeding and watering as always.

Thanks guys,
-Rob

May 10,2021 Alena

Before and after picture: Gavin has them

Today Gavin, Kyle, and I weeded around and inside or garden box. We took the plants that were dead out of the box, and we watered all plants. During my garden work, I saw that something was eating our cabbage so if we could find out what and why that's happening kyle and Gavin that would be amazing. After everyone was done I stayed behind to make up the time I missed on the 6th, of May so I helped Mrs. B set a weed blocker and filled it with mulch.

May6,2021 Alena

Today I watered all the up campus plants and picked some of the weeds around them, I had to leave early so I didn't get to really get anything else done

Today we weeded and watered as usual. It went smooth, because there was not much to do. Our carrot is growing fast, like our radishes. The green onions may be dead or close to it, so we need to water more constantly. Next time, we will weed again, but water much better, especially the green onions

Aaron's Garden Blog 5/6/21

Today, we watered, weeded and made our garden boxes neat

Instead of being down campus to help the other students, I was tasked to water the upper campus plants infront of Mr. Mickleson's and Ms. Betancourt's rooms.  After that, I went back down to the garden and proceeded to help weed.

Observations I have looked at was that our tomatoes have been growing at a steady rate.  I also noticed that our purple flower and yellow flower are close to finishing or is already done growing.

For next week, as per usual, water and weed but not as much because we do not want to kill our plants.

May 7, 2021

Today our two boxes where weeded and watered.

I weeded and watered our two boxes and helped Ms. B pull weeds around the garden.

Our peppers and onions are doing well as before however I'm a little concerned for our pansy in the right box. Found some budding in the on a couple of the peppers hoping they're flowers. Also noticed we have carrot growing in the right box too.

We might not be meeting the water requirements for our pansy with it looking somewhat wilted today, so we should try to be more vigilant on that. Weeding and watering as always.

Thanks guys,
-Rob

Chop’s Garden Work 5/6/21

Aaron and I watered and weeded our garden boxes. Our tomato is huge and our other plants are doing good as well. We helped Ms. Betancourt weed around all the boxes.

I noticed that there are so many weeds around the boxes and on the edges of the garden, also that the big pile of soil under the tarp is moved outside of the garden. I wonder how they did that, must’ve been pretty crazy.

Mikayla should water my melon and my carrots and my tomatoes so they get huge.

Garden work may 6 David

I watered and weeded and I thought it was time to harvest my carrot but I was mistaken. It was definetly not ready, I think about 3 more weeks and it will be fully grown. My squash is growing a lot but some little squash's are dying. My green onion is doing good too. Not much else to do other than weed and water. The squash has taken over the two watermelons. Im not sure if they are still alive.

Gavin Acosta Garden Blog April 29, 2021

Once again, we weeded and watered. There were not much weeds to pull, but they need to be taken care of nevertheless. Our green onions seem to be growing very slowly, while our radishes are making extreme progress. I noticed that our carrots and green onions have almost stopped growing completely, we need to water more. We need to do a better job of watering because we need to maintain steady growth for our plants. Kail should also stay away from eating dirty raw radishes. Unfortunately there are no pictures

April 29, 2021

Today two boxes where weeded and watered.

Sofia and I weeded and watered our two boxes and helped plant flowers for Ms. B.

The peppers and onions are doing nicely with some of the onion's leaves beginning to fall over. While digging in the right most box I noticed the dirt was very solid and this seems the case for many other parts of our boxes.

With the onion's maturing I'd say we should wait for more of their leaves to fall over and wait another week as they seem to be ready for harvest if this is the case. Also might want to till any parts of the boxes without plants with the ground be hard as stone.

Thanks guys,
-Rob

davids garden blog 4/29/21

On Thursday, I watered and weeded the plants in my garden box. My squash has a couple flowers with squashes growing out of them. My carrot has been growing and in a week or so it should be ready.
